MODEL 2000 Start Battery Disconnect

  • Extends the life of your battery.

  • For boats with 1 battery or battery pack.

  • Automatic control of battery circuit.

• Connects when key turns OFF to ON.

• Disconnects based on 2 criteria: 4 hour period with key OFF or low voltage.

  • Dash mounted red LED alert light.

  • Monitors the condition of battery(s), starter, alternator and cables.

  • Electrical system alert.

  • Event recorder – keeps track of usage (start cycles, total hours, date/time stamp of events, total hours by category).

Must have good mechanical skills or please have professionally installed.

This model is for boats with one battery or battery pack used for starting and all electrical loads Boats with both a start battery and house battery should use Model 3000.

 

The mounting location of the E-TRAK assembly should be  close to the batteries keeping

the added battery to contactor cable as short as possible. This will keep the cable  voltage drop to a minimum.

 

Find a surface you can mount the unit to. Do not drill into outer hull.  Check first before drilling.

 

  1. ​Pre drill the holes for the mounting screws use a 3/32" drill bit 3/8 of a inch deep.

  2. Remove the ground cable from battery.

  3. Remove positive cable from battery and connect to the contactor post marked "A2-" (left side post in photo). This will require changing the cable end to match the contactor post.

  4. Connect new battry cable between post marked "+A1" (right side post in photo) and positive terminal on battery.

  5. Connect yellow wire to the ignition switch (must be hot in the run and start position of switch).

  6. Install dash light between an available ground point and the Orange wire from E-Trak Marine.

  7. Reinstall ground cable to battery and the black ground wire from E-Trak Marine.
    Red and Green lights on E-Trak will blink and then go into operation.Green light will continue to flash every 4 seconds when key is OFF.

  8. Any Selector or Master Switch on the boat should be left in the ON or Closed position.  E-Trak Marine automatically opens and closes the battery circuit.

What is needed to install

  • Heat source to shrink tubing at wire

  • Drill and 3/32 drill bit

  • Phillips Screw driver or bit

  • 13 mm wrench or socket to tighten terminal posts (toque to 10 Nm or 90 in-lb max)

MODEL 3000 Battery Separator

  • ​Extends the life of your battery.

  • For boats with separate start battery and house battery systems.

  • Automatic control of battery circuit separating house battery(s) from start battery(s).     

• Disconnects based on two criteria; time-out after engine off for a specified period(default = 4 hours) or low battery voltage threshold is reached.

  • Dash mounted red LED alert light.

  • Power boost during start (automatically switches on house batteries when appropriate).

  • Event recorder – keeps track of usage (start cycles, total hours, date/time stamp of events, total hours by category).

Model 3000 is for boats with both start and house batteries.

The start battery is only for starting. The house battery is for all electrical loads.

 

E-Trak Marine protects the start battery while electrical loads are draining the house battery Boats with only one battery or battery pack should use Model 3000.

 

The mounting location of the E-TRAK assembly should be mounted close to the batteries keeping the added battery cables as short as possible. This will keep the cable  voltage drops  to a minimum.

 

Find a surface you can mount the unit to. Do not drill into outer hull.  Check first before drilling.

  1. Pre drill the holes for the mounting screws using a 3/32" drill bit. Drill to 3/8 inch.

  2. Remove the ground cables from both batteries.

  3. Install a new battery cable between the positive (+) post of  House battery and the contactor post marked "A2-" (left side post in photo).

  4. Install a new battery cable between the positive (+) post of the start battery and contactor post marked  "+A1+ (right side post in photo).

  5. Connect yellow 18 gauge wire to the ignition switch ( must be hot in the ignition position of switch).   

  6. Install dash light between an available ground point and the Orange wire from E-Trak Marine.

  7. Reconnect the ground cable to start battery along with the  black wire from E-Trak Marine. 

  8. Reconnect the ground cable to the house battery.

  9. If the boat has a  dual circuit manual switch  it should be left in the ON position. E-Trak will be disabled if the switch is in Combined Battery position.
    Red and Green lights on E-Trak will blink and then go into operation.
    The Green light flashes every 4 seconds when key is off.

Installation Instruction:

 

The E-TRAK module mounting:

  • Mount near or between the Start Battery(s) and Auxiliary Battery(s)

  • Model can be mounted in any orientation

  • The Status and Alert LEDs should be visible for inspections

  • Optional 3-way connector used for downloading data should be accessible

  • Power Cable connections between the battery and contactor should be done in accordance with the selected manufactures

  • Install wiring harness per drawing #1523

 

Data Extraction:

 

  • The download requires a cable that connects to a USB port on the PC.

  • Downloads are useful in understanding battery usage and trend analysis used for scheduling maintenance
